It's time riders start investing in their body the way they do in their bike. It doesn’t matter what you’re training for, what level you compete at, or how much you’ve invested in equipment. If your body can’t move well, you’ll never reach your potential. The gear, the gadgets, the supplements, the training volume — none of it compensates for a foundation that isn’t there. And the reverse is equally true: when the body is strong, mobile, and functioning the way it should, the competitive advantage is enormous. Not only that, but it will literally carry you for years to come. The most important component on your bike is YOU.
More riding volume doesn't fix a weak foundation. Your body is the most important component on your bike. If you haven't built it to withstand the ride then you're not only losing power and performance on the bike now, you're losing future years of enjoyment spent riding.
By identifying physical constraints and addressing them through the RIDER Protocol, we build a body that is durable by design. This is the shift from just 'riding more' to treating your body as your most important component; one that is built to handle the trail without the chronic pain or compensations that often come with aging.
Strength is the currency of your independence. On the bike, it gives you the stability to choose your line. Off the bike, it gives you the freedom to choose your lifestyle. Whether it’s loading your own gear, staying active in your career, or adventuring decades from now, we provide the plans that ensure your body remains your greatest asset.
Built for the Bike is founded on a simple belief: A strong, optimized body is the most important investment you can make for the ride, and for life. My mission is to help you play the long game, staying strong, staying active, and staying on the bike for as long as you want to be there.
I offer off-bike rider assessments, and off-bike strength and performance training for dedicated cyclists in the south bay. I look at riders' bodies comprehensively and offer in-person body optimization programs specific to the demands of cyclists.
I specialize in helping dedicated riders over 45 navigate the physical changes of aging by prioritizing strength, structural integrity and performance. I'm located in Campbell, CA.
The RIDER Protocol is a 75 minute off-bike assessment of your most important riding component: YOU. It looks at mobility, stability, muscular endurance, movement efficiency, and recovery habits, to give you a picture of how your body is limiting your riding, so you know what to focus on to improve performance.
The RIDER Roadmap is your plan to optimize your body. It is a comprehensive in-person strength and performance coaching package that uses the findings from your RIDER Protocol assessment as the basis for program design. You get a bespoke off-bike training plan that I coach you through every step of the way. It is your off-bike roadmap for on-bike performance. Sessions are in-person and located in Campbell, CA.
To prolong the ride; Strength is the foundation of freedom on and off the bike. I help cyclists build strong bodies so they can say "yes" to any adventure on the bike or in life, today or decades from now.
I'm Kim, founder of Built for the Bike, an off-bike body optimization program for cyclists over 45, focused on improving strength, performance and longevity.
